Abstract

Religious preaching (tabligh) is regarded as the primary mission of the Islamic seminary and the clergy. Seasonal preaching activities, conducted during specific periods of the year, have long provided an important context for fulfilling this mission. However, such activities should follow a model that ensures the greatest effectiveness and impact. Using a descriptive-analytical method and employing the objectives of religious preaching at three levels—communication (balagh), admonition (tadhkir), and transformation (taghyir)—this study first examines the shortcomings of the prevailing model and then proposes a more effective alternative. The analysis identifies several major weaknesses in the traditional approach to religious preaching among seminary students, including limiting preaching to its minimum objectives, lack of continuity and sustainability, the unsystematic and unstructured transmission of religious teachings, and the constant change and diversity of audiences. In response to these shortcomings, the study introduces educational preaching as an effective model for seasonal religious outreach. This model is founded upon two essential components: attention to the requirements and implications of the educational process, and the formation of a specific and stable target audience community.
